Damp remedial options

Post by russ_g_uk »

Please could I have peoples opinions on which would be their preferred option? We've had a couple of local reputable companies quote to fix a damp problem, both highlighting the same areas, carrying out some underfloor works (vents, timbers etc) but with a different solution to finishing the walls so it's down to preferred method really!

Option 1:
Insert new chemical damp proof course. Apply 2mm polypropylene studded membrane to brickwork on specialist fixings. Supply and fit plasterboard on adhesive dabs. Skim finish.

Option 2:
Treat all the brickwork using antisulphate. Apply Biokil Crown Toptank tanking system. Apply Renderlite backing plaster. Skim finish.

Not much difference pricewise so just down to peoples opinions.

No way near enough info to comment - no photos either.
Why not post both reports with their diagrams (remove all personal ID) and provide photos of inside the walls and on the outside?

Thanks,

Yes, it's a cavity wall.

My original question was which option would people see best but, after reading wes56 reply, I'm now beginning to think that it depends on the situation? I'll see if I can get the reports to some form of readability to post :D
