DeWalt 1st fix

Post by Craig1000 »

Was thinking of buying a 1st fix nail gun.
I have been doing a bit of fencing and got loads of things to do when it warms up.
All my tools are DeWalt so was thinking of getting the DeWalt 1st fix but heard conflicting reviews on it or I am getting the Milwaukee 1st fix and Brad nailer

DeWalt 1st fix

Post by fin »

ive got the original first fixer. its still grafting fine.

the newer style milwaukee or hikoki nailers use a different firing method. the dewalts are a flywheel type and the others are a sealed gas chamber apparently.

i just bought a hikoki 2nd fixer and it seems better than the dewalt 2nd fixer so far to me.

if ya have dewalt batteries then the dewalt gun is decent. if ya wanna spend a bit extra then the hikoki or milwaukee will also deffo be decent

Sorry Finnon, Brexit has nowt to do with it, there is a worldwide issue with international shipping which has been going on since at least September last year.

Mainly due to empty containers being stuck at ports all over, Prices for shipping from China went from about 3,000 / 3,500 US dollars in August to anything between 8,000 to 12.000 US dollars in January.
Many containers have been "bumped" off as some importers/exporters were prepared to pay over the odds to ensure a placement on a vessel.

My Mrs. works for a company in the UK that import/export all over the world and has seen the issue first hand.

DeWalt 1st fix

Post by oz0707 »

Nightmare time to be buying tools atm. I fancy a new 216mm dewalt sliding chopsaw but I know i'm going to be paying over the odds. When is the shipping supposed to be sorted Wine-o?

OP I have the dewalt 1st fix and get on ok. Its not the best and not the worst. Definitely pros and cons to it

Back in December the shipping companies were estimating May/June. Then this big f-off container ship got stuck in the Suez canal... That is certainly going to delay things getting back to any sort of normality.

Quick update on the shipping. Don't expect things to get back to normal anytime soon. Latest predictions indicate sometime in 2023.

DeWalt 1st fix

Post by etaf »

Seen these issues since last August ish time, when I was looking at getting a Dewalt Table saw, taking months to arrive, and when they did only in stock for a few days and then straight out again. I have also been looking at Dewalt Plunge saw and tracks - mostly out of stock, and FFX/D&M Tools are now saying , dont know - we have dates for August but often that gets extended.
Fortuanetly , I have not 100% decided yet and still dithering, so the delay helps.

I spoke to FFX today, as they have 5% offer off dewalt, and a lot of items I mentioned still out of stock, tracksaw, plunge saw, rails , clamps.
