Seems like a good deal.

I bought a Parkside one from Lidl a few years ago. The suction isn't that great so hopefully, this will be much better. if not I'll return it.

Oh dear - a battery vacuum trying to be a 'real one - again.
You'd think punters would know by now that there is no match for a mains powered vacuum and that ALL battery operated units are sh1te. My opinion only and YMMV.
Doing the numbers...... a decent vacuum will have a 1200W motor (? for the sake of argument and maths I'll make it 1000W)
The 18V BATTERY might have a capacity of 5Ahr - this equates to (5 x 18 - 90 watt-hours, call it 100 watt-hours for the sake of my maths abilities ).
Divide that into 1000W and you get 10 - actually ONE TENTH of an hour or 6 minutes at full wack.
But that assumes the battery can deliver (1000/18)= 55 AMPS continuously for those 6 minutes. Suspicions already aroused.......
This is for a vacuum with a suggested 1000W. Since the 55 amps and 6 minutes is pushing your luck (from a manufacturers point of view) you can only imagine that they derate it to 750W or even less with a corresponding loss of 'suckiness' but an increase in 'suckiness' as far as using one is concerned.
Colour me skeptical......

Yup, 225 watts to be precise http://electricutopia.com/index.php/hoo ... t-vacuums/
I'm sure they only did slightly better than one of those push-to-pickup (Bessel carpet cleaner???) jobbies though - in their day there was nothing else so no way to compare or complain.

I have a dewalt 18v vacuum (300w) and while not great for pick clean ups it is perfect for smaller jobs.
The point isn't to match the power of a plug-in vacuum but convenience due to small size and access. For having it, my car is much cleaner than it was before.
ah

I can assure you having owned at least three (in different countries) they did very well, I think the beater bars would raise the dust very much like pre vacuum days when Mothers would beat the rugs hanging over the wash line; okay the suction hose attachment was a pain and would not match today's machines but I regularly had to renew the paper bags due to the debris it had picked up from the carpets; the only down side was the rubber drive band but they did improved on that with the U2002 which had a flat ribbed belt and modern bag mounting method; this last one died about 6 years back, the metal fan got damaged and the replacement nylon one did not grip the shaft well.

300W? Sounds right but still 'weedy' in a vacuum sense although I don't doubt it does what it says on the tin.
I'd still save my money for a decent extension lead for the Henry.....

My 18V Milwaukee is invaluable. When it dies I will buy another one the same day

Can't argue with that - despite a reputation for doing so
Although I've seen those machines I've never used one but they were certainly built to last.
