hi,toying with making my own,as they seem to be getting more expensive for what they do,imo! wood side of things is ok but not sure on the shaft? how do you connect the backer board to the shaft? looked at die cast hubs but not convinced. any advice or suggestions would be great

by the way im only looking at 1/2 -1hp would that surfice

thank you for that.only problem is the motor "appears to have a smooth shaft as opposed to a thread,but certainly food for thought,thank you

what sort off sander are you talking about ??
a horsepower [750w]sounds like an industrial belt sander :dunno:

just a small bench disc sander really 6_8 disc is plenty for my needs

what is your planned use for the bench sander??
some belt sanders can be inverted and some even come with clamps to give you a basic bench sander

I had a go at building one from a old circular saw motor but the vibration was unreal lol,I ended up biting the bullet and buying the Axminster AC150BDS

ya can get decent actual dedicated sanders for relatively cheap. ive got one in the garage that im sure was about the £40 mark. its retired now like... but it still works and probably would do for a long time
