How much play is normal with a Metabo FS 160 guide rail

Post by fincainandalucia »

Hi everyone,
Happy to be a part of the community and look forward to learning a lot from you all.
I recently purchased a Metabo KS 55 FS plunge saw in a kit with the FS 160 guide rail for cutting. When mounting the saw on the rail, there is about 1mm of play in the saw. I was expected a nicer fit and the two screws which I believe are for adjusting for a tighter fit don't seem to make any difference. Anyone with experience who can tell me if this is normal or if I have perhaps done something wrong?
Much appreciated!

there should be 2 screws Marked as 1 in the manual - which take the play out of the saw
user manual here
https://portal.metabo-service.com/en-GB ... /00955000/

Its listed as a circular saw , rather than. plunge saw - A plunge you can put into the middle of wood and plunge straight down into the material to cut things like sink holes etc.

Not sure how well the Circular saw will plunge - although it can be done

have a look here

2:51 , adjustment to the track

Thanks for your responses. In the end, it was simple oversight. I had the tool on my workbench to test it and was holding it backwards basically compared with how I would have been working with it. A little inward pressure while tightening the screw from the other side fixed up the play and allows the saw to glide over the rail. Very excited for the coming projects with this new toy!
Thanks again for your advice.
