Looking to buy a table saw for longitudinal cuts mainly for wood and occasionally Upvc and plastic.

The Titan one at Screwfix is a generic model that is sold in many company colours and names. Probably of Chinese origin, the SF one has a two-year guarantee and for £99 is good value.https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb763 ... tid=372757 I have a similar one that does all I want. I tweaked it a bit to get it cutting true but that was me being anal.

I would say so. You have to be careful with any saw and much of it is being alert and planning your cuts.

What sort of size of wood are you cutting , 8'x4' sheets on a table saw ????
you mention Upvc & plastic - what sort of size sheets and what size cuts ?

@etaf How is the mater being cut? Circular saw fixed onto a table, no?
No it won't that big, smaller sheets, for making boxings, shelves and small projects.
Same for plastic

Table saw recommendations
in general below 6"/150mm wide far easier more accurate and safer on a table saw
cutting with a hand held saw requires the work to be fully supported and clamped down unless weight enough like a 1/4 plus to full sheet will hold in place
loads off sheet material hand saw and bench to support at least 80%
long thin stuff below say 50mm up to 150mm table saw with enough support fore and aft to stop lifting on the table
