Where do I get a big spanner from - for changing sink plug
I need to change the sink plug.
We had one changed a few years ago by builders.
They told me I needed a big spanner.
All other tools I tried didn't work.
Where do I get a big spanner from?
Sounds like a dumb question!!
I measured the width I need to hold onto - it's about 2.5 inches at least.
That's 6.5cm.
Adjustable spanners - they don't go that big.
Ones that I've seen on Screwfix cost nearly £100 for that wide!
The ones the builders used was just a fixed width.
I'd prefer something I can adjust.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

5 holes aka pump pliers are all you need (large) at a push you can use a strap wrench, if its a plastic nut you can cut it off

Thanks for the replies guys.
@dewaltdisney - I think this is my best choice. I'll go for that. Under £5 - that's criminal.
@fin @Bob225, those suggestions are no good. Actually been there and done that. If I had a good quality water pump pliers... maybe... the one I had was cheap pound shop stuff. Strap wrench - tried that, no joy.
Problem is that the sinks haven't been touched in 12 years say - so everything is literally welded on.
When the builder opened, he used a massive spanner. I guess he got enough grip on. I'll try the water pump pliers if the 68mm pliers don't work.
Thanks.

If you can get a purchase on the fitting you can add extra leverage by attaching an extension to the handle if you can figure something out like a tube, mole grips, or the like.
