New lawn ... bloomin cats

Hey all
Not sure yet if this is a question or a rant ...
I spent 3 days last week tilling, raking out, leveling and reseeding my lawn ... back breaking work. I was very meticulous to ensure I got a good result and did everything by the book. Imagine my annoyance having gone away for a day and come back to find cats had been using the prep'ed lawn to do their business. 4 turds in the space of a day ... Worst part is they make mess of the soil by gouging out and making a mound meaning the lawn seed is scratched up new shoots likely destroyed. It'll probably end up leaving a bald spots all over the place.
(OK that was the rant).
Any one know of a simple way to keep them out until at least the lawn establishes? I was thinking about polybags tied to stakes?
ah
