Replace external corner beads for re-skim?
Hi,
I have a wall with an external corner. I plan on having the room re-skimmed if I can find a plasterer.
Will they remove the current corner bead, or just stick a new corner bead on top of the existing?
The condition of the walls is just bad enough to warrant a reskim. Quite solid though.
Thanks,
Dave.

Replace external corner beads for re-skim?
Would it not depend on what you ask them to do, and the condition of the existing one?
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.
Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Replace external corner beads for re-skim?
Hi,
I presume they will need to replace it, as the existing one is under the existing skim.
I was wondering if it goes on top of, or replaces the existing one?
Dave

They'll stick a new one over the corner and skim to it.

Replace external corner beads for re-skim?
Dave1978,
Presuming you are talking about a solid plaster corner, no plaster board involved.
It could depend on whether the existing bead is damaged - or rusty from damp conditions?
The correct method might then be to remove the existing corner bead - fix a new corner bead, and fill-in & skim.

Replace external corner beads for re-skim?
Hi,
Solid plaster. No damp. No issues really.
There are a few in the room. Around windows, one near a fireplace.
I appreciate there is no standard practice, but in this room I at least, cannot see any complications with damp etc.. I would like it re-skimmed to get rid of the wallpaper and have a nice, paintable finish.
Thanks all for your help.
