Belle Mixer Motor issues

Post by MrGadgetsUK »

Hi fz8vfj
There seems to be a recurring theme of people buying used Belle mixers and finding out they have issues.
I purchased a Belle 150 (110v) from a local auction close to where I live only to find that the switch didn't hold
Not got any knowledge of mixers or motors but did a bit of reading around and replaced both the switch and the capacitor but still the same issue..
The drum does rotate while I hold the switch in but then stops when I let go of the switch.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thx

:welcomeuhm: MrGadgetsUK,

This thread is ten years old and the OP hasn't been seen since! A Moderator will probably start a new thread for you.

The capacitor is a common problem with these, hire shops stock them for about fifteen quid.

Thanks for the welcome arco and sorry for reviving such an ancient thread, I didn’t realise it was so old (or actually to be honest I didn’t look) I was just eager to get some help.

I went in to my local tool hire company which do a repair service and I was told that they are inundated with repairs and it would be 3 weeks for them to be able to do a quote for repair…

Replacement of both the capacitor and the switch are easy DIY jobs!

Parts are readily available on fleabay & A-zon, though 110V a bit scarcer and dearer. If you replace them yourself you'll likely save a bundle (& 3 weeks).

If the issue isn't fixed so you still pay for repairs elsewhere, you haven't really lost anything because you can tell them those two parts are new - got to be worth a try?
