We have just moved into a 1930s semi.

My husband took the plasterboard off underneath the bay window in the bedroom and there was a small leak. He has used a sealant where he thinks the problem was and I have just discovered that he has filled the cavity with loft insulation. Now I am concerned as its cold outside and warm inside and loft insulation seems to be a lovely place to get damp and mouldy. Am I right yo be concerned. If so, what do we insulate it with?

Yes, any insulation is good. If you can get hold of some Celotex solid foam it would be good but fibre insulation packed in well should do it.

If you want to be belt and braces you could line the inside exterior wall face with a Tyvek vapour barrier microporous membrane to allow any condensation vapour to leech out but quite frankly if the leak is fixed the heat from the house will keep it dry and it is unlikely to cause issues. Tyvek is a bit like Gortex in a coat it allows water vapour out but is waterproof. You can get short lengths cut from a roll on eBay quite cheaply.
