Walking stick emblem mount fail

Thought I'd post a disaster here, most of my projects are sadly :D
Made my first walking stick last week, for some reason used the only symmetrical thumbstick, to make the first stick lol..
Got her all straightened, sanded, used epoxy varnish, then I put the emblem on...
When you hold this stick, you grip the emblem
Really wish I didn't do it on my good stick lol, and putting it lower would leave me with holes, I even predrilled the holes quarter way, so they will be decent sized holes lol.
I'm going to give this one to a family member for christmas who doesn't walk often, so it can be more of a display piece :D
