I want to run an ethernet extension between 2 rooms. I don't have a punch down tool for pushing the cables into the socket, can anyone suggest what I could use as an alternative?
I know these can be bought relatively cheaply but I expect it is unlikely to be used again, and would take several days to arrive. So if there is an alternative, it would save some time.

Thanks, I have ordered one but hoped that I could push on with the work without having to wait. However, if not then it will need to wait and I work around Christmas trees, etc, etc.

It can be done with the edge of a credit card, but the credit card can get damaged.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
