I made the final connection to my external RCD switched socket today. I tried it with a lamp but although the lamp was getting power the lamp wouldn't switch on. I was stumped. I checked all the internal wiring again but couldn't find a fault. It must be a dodgy RDC socket I thought. I made a long-winded video to post on here. Then I had a cup of tea and thought to myself "surely I haven't wired up the RCD wrong"? So I checked it and found I had put the neutral in the earth terminal!! FFS it's even colour coded!!!

Doh! 🤦‍♂️

We all make mistakes, I was given 5 boxes of sockets for a second fix, looked at first socket saw which side was line and which was neutral and fitted all the sockets, lucky then tested them all, seems 4 boxes had neutral on one side and last box reversed.
