Bathroom plaster/Wall sealant help

Hello,

Question about my bathroom walls. It was tiled floor to ceiling, so I’ve been pulling those off and removing the old adhesive. Was hoping to only tile round the bath/shower and above the new vanity unit, and then just paint the remaining wall areas, but some of the wall round the window is very crumbly and it looks like whoever did the tiling before has tiled straight over the holes and gaps. This was the main area I was hoping to paint. So I was wondering, what should I be filling these holes with? And then, to get a smooth finish on the wall, is there a special bathroom plaster and/or sealant that I need to use before painting? The wall on the long side of the bath is plasterboard and will be tiled, but again, should I use a special sealant or bonder where the wall has peeled?

Many thanks!

The larger holes want filling with mortar (sand/cement mix) then get a new skim coat of plaster done. Personally I'd prefer to have it fully tiled after any major filling.

Yeah, I’m thinking fully tiled might be the best bet after all. Thanks for the tip. Would you re-skim the plasterboard as well?

Doesn't look like it's needed.
