Putting together an order for BES and then looking at Screwfix for comparison, which I invariably find competetive, and use certainly weekly, and almost daily,

Item 6191V

Image

£7.48 (ex vat)

BES for a similar item, product code 9689

Image

£3.37 Exclud. VAT.

That is a BIG difference!

Alright. SF is Click and Collect whereas BES are only free delivery for orders over £50 (nett) but, that seems to be a mighty difference.

Part of the clue is in the name.

The top valve is a Pegler which is a much higher end valve than the BES one
I think I'll take two chickens...

Grumps : Did you mean 1961V at SF which is a Pegler, excellent brand and having had cheaper non branded fail at the handle shaft seal in no time I can recommend for Pegler quality.
When I want a cheaper valve I go for the yellow handle which is also gas approved, me thinks must be a higher standard :?

when ya look on screwfix i think it is..... they do a pegler washing machine valve for about a £5er and cheaper for about £1.50 ish.... something like that anyway. id imagine the pegler will be still grafting in 20 years time and those cheap ones are the ones you always end up replacing when theyve failed that ya find on kitchen rip outs
