Hi everyone,

I plastered a small area yesterday (two sides of a window internal area) but as the walls were not plumb while I was putting plaster on the top part I was scratching the side part ( I learned now that I will need to plaster opposite sides in these situations). I tried to use one angle trowel but as the walls are not really plumb it was making more mess than fixing.
So I was wondering, can I just put one new thin coat of plaster over it today or tomorrow? I am sure I can make it flatter if I work on one side at the time.

I don't see why not - as yesterday's plaster will be going off but still soft, scratch the surface (wiggly lines or criss-cross, don't overdo it) - a nail or screw (or two) through a piece of wood so 2mm of the point sticks out the other side.

Brush off the loose bits so created. This will give a "key" for the next skim.

You can, just give the area a coat of pva watered down by 4 to 1 the night before and another’s few minutes before you skim. If this is your first attempt at plastering then buy a sponge float and give the area a quick rub over to get it as flat as you can.
