Hello all, I hope you are well.

I want to reposition a double plug socket about 20" from where it currently is on the wall.

I did have money for it but again (im cursed) that money needs to go elsewhere (just paid £200 for new sat dish as other one blew off and now also need a roofer as storms blew off umpteen tiles).

Im not sure if I need a proffessional to move the socket and it needs to be declared under regs?

Maybe because

1) It is upside down

2) His charger lead is too short

Small rooms and the way the place is now after having gas central heating put in we have no option but to cover this area leaving it inaccessible to getting hands/plugs in there. Dont want to have to move very heavy wardrobe when needing to plug something into the spare plug.

general comment
storm damage may be covered by your household/contents insurance but worth checking as excesses and future premium rises as the excess /extra future costs may exceed any payment even iff not claimed
in other words ask general questions never state damage that has happened as once "registered or recorded " it cannot be retracted it may be say £200 worth off damage but as a claim will get nothing back as a say £500 excess but will or can effect your future payment or treatment going forward??

Moving a cable is often more complicated than people realise. Do the cables come down the wall or go up from the floor? Is there 1 cable or 2? Does the fuseboard have RCD protection?

Cable comes up from floor. Theres 2 cables.

Fuse board is new with rcd protection.

There are safe zones, these zones are defined by the location of some thing visible like the socket, but can also be a blanking plate, so likely you can fit a socket on a spur from original, but likely even if not assessable the original socket or at least a blanking plate will need to remain to show where wires run.

If the area is going to be behind furniture, as an interim fix, I would extend the Ring using Wagos and surface fixing the cable to a surface mounted double outlet. Blanking plate covering the existing fitting.

Otherwise, safe zones........
