Chrome treatment

Post by 54aardvark »

I have a 1969 Morris Minor and some of the chromework is prone to rust. Comes up fine with Solvol Autosol but rust starts to appear within a week or two.

Is there some sort of treatment/sealer to prevent this?

It is rust pinholes causing the problem. If you are minded to you can get parts rechromed by a few firms who still do it.

Like any metals (well, most metals) exposure to air starts the 'spotting' on chrome and stopping it just means keeping the air off! A decent waxing or even clear lacquer will make a big difference.
Don't take it personally......
