9.5mm or 12.5mm Plasterboad for Dot & Dab?
I'm about to dot and dab a wall. I'm curious what professionals use in terms of thickness? I read most use 9.5mm which is easier to handle but I've also read 12.5mm is more rigid and easier to get it level with a straight edge. I thought maybe they use 9.5mm because it's cheaper but on the Tradepoint website they're the same price

9.5mm if its those handi boards theyre horrible things. dead soft and bend easy. obv ya can get 9.5mm in the bigger 8x4 boards also. i assume the same in the 6x3 boards.
i personally would always go for the 12mm boards especially on dab. and id be going and making sure that plenty of dab is also used. nowt worse than the wall moving once you are finished.
also i was on a job a while back and the plasterer moaned about the dab sucking in as it set and pulling the boards in a bit. dunno how true that is or if he just could not lie straight in bed. some of the walls were a right pain once he was finished haha

12.5mm everytime for me and maybe you should think about foaming them rather than traditional dot n dab.
It's super fast and much easier to get everything straight

I looked at the foam before I posted this. I know Chez did a video on it a few years ago but I was sceptical about it.
Razor have you personally used it? if so which foam did you use? I've seen this and wondered if it's any good?

It gets good reviews and I know SF don't remove bad reviews in case anyone comments on my past post.

Yes, The only time I use board adhesive now is if I have to encase a gas pipe. It's so much quicker, cleaner and easier with foam although as with everything there is a learning curve

This guy is really good for plastering vids. This was his first time using foam after years of hating the thought

The only thing about that video Razor is he's just attached a small piece of plasterboard, not a full sheet. However, I'm going to try it tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
I'm going to put a couple of screws in the bottom of the wall to support the board whilst it's drying.

I went to my local B&Q in Cumbernauld but they didn't have any 12.5mm TE. The assistant told me the Stirling branch loads so I drove there which is a 40-mile round trip. It turns out she was looking at the moisture-resistant stuff which is double the price . I then had to retrace my steps and go the other way to Coatbridge. I was fuming!
I spent all day driving around so didn't get much done. I opted against the no-nonsense stuff from SF and ordered the same stuff in Razors video he posted. It hasn't arrived yet.
I have them lying flat just now Fin and will spray them flat before attaching. I might wait for my son to come to mine to give me a hand. He's down in London doing some Jubillee parade pish.

I don't think TE is intended for ceilings but I'm no expert. Maybe you can get TE on all sides
