I must be getting old (67) but so far - it hasn't finished yet - I'm very disappointed.
Brian May on the statue not as good as on the roof in 2012, Lloyd Webber well past it (Hamilton isn't his, Phantom nowhere near as I remember seeing Michael Crawford on stage, (Jason Donovan as Joseph was a turn-up though), Rod Stewart has lost his voice, and Sweet Caroline wasn't his song anyway. Time he gave up.
George & Charlotte looked very bored at times, Charles & Camilla's flag waving a bit half-hearted with glum faces.
Attenborough's graphics are brilliant, best bit so far, but the whole thing is a bit woke overall.
I'll stick it out to see if it improves.

I agree, For me, Queen did the best act, the rest has been shite. We have watched it on record so we could speed through the tick box acts and bores. Fat Reg did Your Song well but it was a recorded bit..swizz. It could have been so much better.

According to the interweb, he was in a wheel chair around then. I saw him at Wembley in '75 ('76?), blimey....... takes you back.
Good on yer, ma'am, the only monarch I've ever known, and Paddington a bear from my childhood (wasn't into Pooh).

all depends on how you apportion costs for every public action like security travel maintenance etc
i am fairly neutral on this point but pomp and ceremony has never been my thing, whilst others are suffering

Apparently, Fat Reg is currently on tour and recorded his bit. The wheelchair photo was just him resting his hip after walking a long way on tour. Queen were definitely the best act, Diversity and other crap artists I have never heard of were just tick box, Duran Duran were awful picking poor songs, Rod Stewart was terrible and an embarrassment, Diana Ross was good on the whole. The opera bit was well done. We had watched on delay through recording so we could spin through the crap. So, for me good in parts.

Always was going to be good in parts and poor in others. Trying to put a concert together that appeals to everyone is always going to be an impossible task. It being "inoffensivve" is probably the best result. I didn't feel anybody really stood out as being really excellent , mostly just ok , perhaps it was the poorer bits that stood out. Craig David I've always thought was poor and I wasn't impressed but then a lot of people seem to like him for some reason. Was the opera well done? I can never tell , it's all just an unnatural wailing to me , a tick box on it's own because there seems to be a belief that it embodies culture and posh people all like it.
Just to say it was the first time I'd actually heard the eurovision song all the way through.

I've had similar discussions with friends before. It's the pomp and ceremony along with the buildings and trappings that actually bring in the money rather than the people themselves. Very few tourists get more than a brief glimpse of a royal personage . If we got rid of the royal family we'd more than likely still keep the palaces and so on , have Versailles or the Winter Palace been bulldozed or turned into student accommodation , do republics not have parades or pomp and ceremony. As said it's all about how it's calculated.

A common misconception. It would generate more tourism if they were allowed into these places. Republic did a survey and discovered the French receive more tourism because they can venture inside their buildings.
Another survey conducted by Republic found Windsor castle was 17th in a list of tourism hotspots. From memory, I think the top slot was Chester Zoo.
Shameful when we have so many many ex-servicemen homeless and Buckingham Palace have like 900 bedrooms. After all, they fought in her name.
Anyone who supports the monarchy is Fuc$ing deluded!
Make Lizzy the last and feed the poor.

Surveys are fairly pointless as you can skew the results to what ever you want by selection off place time demography and wording off question

C'mon Argyll, You are starting to sound like K-e with that statement. As in if you don't agree with my point of view then you are an idiot. I thought better of you.

And often skewed by the party commissioning them, in this case " conducted by Republic " what does that tell you...

Sorry. I had to put one of my dogs to sleep last night so a bit emotional.
I shouldn't have said it.
