Sorry I know this is a subject discussed many times but could you please take a look at this photo and tell me if this is anywhere near acceptable?
I've tried different methods and finally managed to get the main joint to line up nicely but the curve of the joint is still slightly off.
I'm new to this and struggle to find any videos or images showing a close up to see just how perfect the join should be
I'm using a Makita 1/2 router with 12.7 bit and trend jig. The new red one.
Any thoughts always massively appreciated
Thank you

Fin is your man here but I would say that jig isn't spot on.
Very unlike Trend. Have you sent them the picture?

Yes used trends 30mm guide bush.
Maybe I should get in touch with trend.
As I say I've not seen what results should look like before colorfill used and perhaps a little careful sanding

have you a pic a little further away? dont get how the worktops are positioned.
i use a unika jig on tops with a small radius. for square edge tops you can peel off the front edge and but the joins together. if i go with the really old style i have a trend jig too but mine is the big worktop jig they do.
if you use the modern zip bolts for joining them and colorfill it should be fairly simple to get an absolutely bang on joint.

Are you running the router along the same side of the jig for both cuts?

yessssss..... i was confused yesterday. as above. have you pulled the router toward you on the male cut and pushed it away on the female cut maybe?

you always go left to right on the jig. so if it was a left hand female cut its done from the underside of the worktop so youd have the worktop upside down. same goes for a right hand male cut. that would be done with the worktop upside down. left hand male and right hand female are cut with the top the right way up.
double check your jigs instructions. they are all different

also if it has a depth gauge for the worktop width then set that up on the male cut and itll put the female cut in the correct place.... thats how my trend jig works. my unika jig you push the pins in at the appropriate depths. it has presets for the range of sizes available.
to set my trend jig i put the pins in for a male cut. then push the depth stop to the back of the worktop and tighten it. then when i put the pins in for the female cut it sets it the correct distance along the worktop.

Thanks so much guys for the feedback.
To the very best of my knowledge I've done everything to the letter according to the trend instructions.
Final pass on both female and male cuts were pushed away from me.
All left to right
So just to confirm there should be no need to do any touch up sanding on curve of cut?
Thanks a million again guys

maybe... your pic to me still looks a little strange. a pic taken further back would be good.
try a dry fit with the bolts in place pull it all together see what it looks like.
are you using colourfill? or another product? i usually use colourfill.
i normally have a bottle of accetone in my van... normally nail varnish remover as its a couplea quid at the cheap shop at the nook. get some funny looks for that sometimes. the tiny bottle of acetone you get with colorfill is often not enough.
