just joined the forum.
My kango 950 breaker stopped on me the other day so i ended up hiring a matika from a local hire company which i did not enjoy at all.
I have used kango all my life where after experiencing some other breakers over the years within my work, i still today feel that kango was and still is the ultimate breaker as , ease of use, trigger, quality and weight.
I am looking to buying a back up one but weighing up whether i should upgrade and buy a modern breaker.
I am basically looking for one that is very similar to a kango.
I found with the makita that when pressing the trigger, you have to wait a a second or more for the machine to work. I found it was heavier than the kango.
I also found the body is too wide where kango is vertical bigger, ideal for smaller holes,
Most of all, reliability. What i see online does not grab my attention
Makita is out
Hilti is an option but too expensive
cheap brands do not interest me full stop, unless someone can convince me through hands on experience.

I know your first reaction might be negative to this suggestion https://www.screwfix.com/p/titan-ttb278 ... 240v/97533 but you really should have a look first. I have had one of these for years and it does the same job as a Kango. The weight of this one makes it heavy enough for breaking but a bit hard to wield for drilling. Have a look.

a while back i was on a job fitting a front door. discovered i needed to knock out a concrete step. It was a saturday afternoon and the 5kg bosch breaker drill was not touching it whatsoever. every hire place was closed what a nightmare.

i eventually got a lend of a screwfix special breaker drill.... it could have been a titan.... it was a couple of years back. it could have been the scheppach or whatever it is that they sell.

something like that. it flew through what i needed. if its just as a back up whilst your kango is repaired i would look at something like that... unless you can get a spare kango as ya back up machine.
