Replacing oak worktop

Post by Blakey »

Hi all,
Just a quick follow up question to my last worktop post, my daughter now has the keys to her new house, and sorting out a leaky tap and new worktop is a priority, after researching on Google she is not really keen on the solid worktops due to all the care and maintenance required, and has asked if it could be replaced with a laminate worktop, I didn’t think it was advisable due to having the Belfast sink, but future father in law says you just put capping on the exposed edges around the sink :dunno:

As always, all/ any advice greatly appreciated

Replacing oak worktop

The ally cappings look naff and water can still seep down the join in time. Quite frankly I think that I would just get a cheap worktop and caulk it well in the underjoin area. Before sticking on the edging I would seal the ends with a polyurethane varnish. Have a look at Savoy Timber, I have bought a few from them Mail order. When she can afford a revamp pull out the janitors sink and fit a nice inset sink and worktop or cut out the middleman and do it now.
