Dyson - DeWalt battery converter

Post by Argyll »

Not a tool per se but what a brilliant bit of kit.

The battery life on my 5yr old V6 was beginning to drop after a minute on boost (used to be 6 mins) I looked at a replacement battery but I think the Ah is quite low. Then I noticed a DeWalt converter kit for the same price so bought it. You remove two screws and change it over. It's really easy. I've been using it for a couple of days now and seems really good. The original battery only lasted 6 mins on boost so when it ran out I had to wait for the battery to cool and then charge it which took a couple of hours. Now I just whip the battery off and replace it. The only downside is it now doesn't fit on my wall holder but that's no big concern.

Good idea that is seems to be the first point of failure on all those Dyson hoovers

Dyson are a triumph of marketing over substance , frankly useless

Against my better judgement we bought a battery one about three years ago , had new cyclones and batteries under warranty no improvement and battery life is crap and the inability to change batteries as they charge is poor design , as are the chargers which take an age , lucky power tool manufacturers don’t provide this sort of rubbish

Which is why I changed over to using the DeWalt battery converter. I've found the V6 to be excellent to be fair.

just make sure you choose one recommended by someone as they can ruin your batteries by flattening them beyond the point they won't charge again
