Hi All,
I am developing a hidden shootbolt lock system for bifold doors to replace the need for flush bolts on the breakaway join. I am using an ali door based system comprising of a central gearbox, threaded rods and then nylon shoots at top and bottom of the door. My question is what would joiners prefer to do to hide the threaded rods in the door (they are 8mm diameter and need to sit back around 44mm from edge of door);
A, Make a door style in 2 halves, route a groove in each section and then glue together to create hidden hole?
B, Route a 10mm x 44mm groove into edge of door, place rods and then plug the open groove with timber?
C, As per B, but instead of timber create a PVC or rubber push in infill?
Our system cannot use a Eurogroove system as too tight to place next to hinges and the centrelines do not work.
Thoughts welcome.
