She was a great role model for our nation, I had huge respect for her as a person and as our queen.

She was lucky to make it as far as she did, 25 years longer than the life expectancy of her peers is pretty good.dewaltdisney wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 7:13 pm I was so sad to hear the news, I thought she would make 100.

fantastic servant. i was at work yesterday and first i heard the news she was poorly. then at around about quarter to 5 a message popped up in my tuesday night football whatsapp group. saying she had died. i thought no way... my sister works for the bbc as a journalist although she was not at work at that point. she said she hadnt heard anything. then she messaged back to say announcement at 6 oclock.
then sky news flashed it and i ran upstairs to tell the other lads and they were both like no way no way so had to show them on my phone too.
love to know how my mate knew so soon like

As many of you know I'm very anti monarchy but I respect she was someone's mum, gran or aunty.
My son's carrying her coffin today into Holyrood Palace and then into St Giles Chapel on Monday.

I'm up and down regarding the monarchy. I guess I would rather have the continuity and history of a royal family than the inconsistency of a self-centred president who may change every four or five years. If we became a republic we may end up with someone like Blair or Boris as president. On the other hand, people like the Duke of York and the Sussexes do more harm than good. Let's hope Charles trims down the "Firm" to the main players, gets all the others firmly away from the limelight, and earns back some respect for the monarchy.

My thoughts exactly, there are too many hangers on.Tom d'Angler wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 4:26 pmLet's hope Charles trims down the "Firm" to the main players, gets all the others firmly away from the limelight, and earns back some respect for the monarchy.

i agree fully with gadgets comments about "the firm "
the monarchies main connection to the masses is historic and fairly unrelated, other than in a church type way where those who think they are important suggest a way to live your life and how to think with ought living in the real word where the problems off those struggling in general is not helped by some wise man or superior person with thoughts or rules from 200 or 300 years ago whose thoughts have very little connection to reality now
