The Queen's funeral

Post by dewaltdisney »

I watched all day and as sad as it was I was proud to be British. The organisation was faultless and I did not spot anyone messing up apart from a clergyman dropping a white card during the Westminster hall service which was of no importance. What an amazing turnout by the public showing their respects. It was a sad day but quite uplifting.

Will the usual dissenters start their own thread and don't sully this one.

I watched too, only thing I found REALLY annoying was when the procession was on it's way to Windsor...

The crowd were all busy taking videos on their phones instead of paying proper respect.

Their right arms in the air (to see over the persons head in front) reminded me of Nazi Germany and the Hitler salute. :angryfire:

Yes, I thought that but it seems to be the thing people do these days, no decorum. But in the main many were doing the right thing and the officials all did it bang on. The pallbearers did a very difficult job in an excellent manner, those steps at Windsor were a challenge.

We did think about going to Windsor, but didn’t and on reflection I wish we had and we too watched it all live on TV. We had thought about going to the lying in state but the 12 hours queue put us off

I take my hat off to the Royal family, not being able to mourn with the cameras of the world staring at them all the time. Attending your own parents funeral isn’t easy, as most of us know.

I also compliment ALL the military personnel, police forces AND civil servants who organised today - makes you really proud to be British.

One thing's for certain, the British know how to do "Pomp" like no other.

It's what she would have wanted. 😂
