I have a combi boiler and about 10 rads. I'd like to keep it clean to improve efficiency and increase lifespan. I bought a bottle of cleaner (fernox) and their advice is to insert cleaner, run for a day, empty system then 3 x refill/run for a day/empty. This is to ensure no cleaner is left in the system.
It seems a lot of work, but maybe I'm being naïve! Is there any easier way - e.g. the inline filters like Adey magnaclean, or fernox TF1? Or do they all need chemicals/multiple flushes too?
Thanks.

Keeping combi boiler system clean

Chemicals in the system do what ever they are supposed to. In my case I have fernox protector f1, it stays there all the time. A magnaclean or similar sits there grabbing ferrous oxide particles as they pass (Rust to you and me) I have a magnetic cleaner too, i had to cut the pipework to install it, that way I can empty it once a year (Its always clear now)
I put my f1 in by opening my magnetic cleaner to let the pressure down, then took out the bleed valve of the highest rad and put in the f1
So I am told you can also remove your magnetic filter put the chemical in that and put it back.
In either case you must repressurise the system.
This is my magnet thingy

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I was thinking more of the cleaners that get added then removed, rather than left in (like inhibitor). E.g. fernox f3 cleaner needs to be rinsed through 3-4 times. I wonder if the inline filter removes need for cleaning through (both before and after).
