lap tester help please

hello i have had had this lap tester for 4 or 5 years all working great but !
just added a spur off a double socket
when i put the lap tester in and switch the socket on all is ok BUT !
when i switch off the socket a red light remains on i cant see why adding a spur would course this to happen so went around the house around 5 sockets i tested this red light remained on but the socket switch was off !
any help please

Those CAN NOT test sockets in any useful way.

I have seen a similar post before, the tester alerts there may be a fault, but it will not really identify the and fault, even the more expensive versions around £50 with loop, pass at around 1.9 ohm, where for a ring final the pass mark is 1.37 ohms, so only any good testing a radial.

You were asked on the other forum is your supply TN or TT, better answer that first rather than re-post on another forum.
