So Oven bulb blew in our Leisure range cooker, bought 2 replacements from toolstation (figured as I was making a round trip of about 10 miles I might as well get a spare)

Anyway, first bulb went pop straightaway, 2nd bulb lasted about 5 minutes...

I thought just dodgy cheap bulbs, so bought a replacement at my local Euronics.

This one lasted just over a week, probably total cooking time 3 1/2 hours.

Have I just been unlucky with bulbs ?

I can't see it being an oven fault as a bulb will only draw whatever wattage it needs to operate.

Thoughts ???

If it blew straight away, I would suspect voltage too high, or lamp voltage too low i.e. lamp rated 220v not 240v
Other thing is heat, you can get "tough" built lamps just for ovens.

I presume it was an incandescent lamp?

All replacements incandescent, all rated for 300 Degrees celcius rated 240V except the toolstation jobbies which were rated 220~240V

As an aside the oven is working normally, thermostat hasn't failed so temp isn't going over over 300 Degrees (I've had that before on another oven)

No probs with any other appliances. Can't sensibly check the voltage at the bulb holder, getting a meter in there safely is impossible, SES E14 and recessed. I could potentially do more damage than good...

I bought a pack of 2 from Amazon a couple of years ago that each lasted minutes. I assumed either poorly-manufactured Chinese garbage, or maybe they'd been bashed about a bit in transit (I'm assuming the filaments maybe don't like being vibrated about a lot, although that is based on absolutely no knowledge of lightbulb technology whatsoever). I eventually bought one from a local "fork handles" type DIY shop that was fine. Wouldn't surprise me if it had been sitting in the shop for a decade before I bought it!

Don't have any left round here, the likes of B&Q, Screwfix and toolstation have taken over. Not to mention Amazon and e-bay...

When I replaced the light in the oven for my mother she asked for a brighter bulb, unfortunately there wasn't a suitable incandescent available so I bought a ceramic adaptor to convert the e14 socket to a G9 halogen.
I got 5 adaptors and 10 halogen bulbs for about a quid more than a 2 pack of the standard incandescent bulbs. The new halogen is WAY brighter for almost the same wattage and so far it has lasted 6 months without issue. I know halogens aren't rated for oven temps but the halogen bulb itself gets way hotter than any oven will so I am not concerned.

Might be worth you trying?

Forgot to update this, I bought a replacement from Sainsburys of all places weeks ago. Still working after nearly 4 weeks so fingers crossed.

The only noticable difference being the packaging, inner cardboard sleeve inside the outer packaging whereas the others were packed in a snug fitting sleeve so more prone to vibration damage in transit.
