A little event today was a good indication of the young doing the decent thing. We were just by our car in Tesco and I was wheeling the trolley to the shelter when I saw an elderly couple crossing the road. As I parked the trolley and looked at them again I saw them both fall over in a layby mounting a steepish curb. I quickly went over the verge and climbed over a crash barrier to get to them just as Mrs D was coming from the car down the Tesco entrance road to help. We helped them up one at a time and got them over to the barrier for support. A young guy pulled had up in the layby and a young woman parked in some cross-hatching in the middle of the road to come and help. The young woman was a first aider and between us all, we checked them out and brushed them down. As they were heading for the bus I asked where they were going and as they were going to Billericay, about 6 miles or so I said I would take them. We got them in my car and ran them home so we were sure they were safe. The lady left £10 on the car seat which I pushed back in her hand.
I think what struck me most was that two young people stopped and helped and it restored my faith somewhat as in this day and age you do not see so much care for others by strangers.
I am just waiting to be punished for my good deed.

That's great, Walter, I've noticed with all this talk of nurses, paramedics & care staff not earning what they think they're worth, many times it is said they aren't doing it for the money, but because they care about what they do.
Coincidentally, not in the same league though, a chap asked me for a jumpstart in Tesco's carpark on Sunday (he'd left the lights on while shopping, old Jimny), simple assist not a problem - tried to give me a fiver, which I refused.
Last time that happened to me, a taxi driver charged me twenty quid!
