Freeport Outlet

Post by dewaltdisney »

We happened to be in Braintree today and on passing, we called into Freeport an outlet trade park with all the brand names. I was firstly astonished at how few people were milling around, albeit on a Tuesday. Mrs D was obviously driving this diversion to the shops but even she was scathing of many of the shops' offerings. I wandered into Ralph Loren and had a browse. What a load of overpriced tat. I like Oxford cotton shirts and when I was in America I bought two from the Polo outlet. I think I paid $100 for two, that was enough, but they are nice quality. I was shocked to see the same shirts on sale at the special outlet price of £106. We ventured into M&S outlet and they did have a lot of bargain priced nice stuff That was about the only shop worth a look. It will be another 7 years before I go again which is the gap between my last visit there.

I think these pseudo premium discounted price places are going to find it tough as the bubble seems to have burst.

Just had a flashback to 'The Windmill' nightclub in Braintree in the 80's when I was based in Colchester. Did some damage there 😂

Sorry off topic.

been to a few , one near bath i think, not clarksvillage , so not sure which one now , but i remember that one being OK , but that maybe because it was years ago - all the others not really great
and been a few times to the designer outlet ashford kent, which is near my brother , and also near us in portsmouth , gunwharf keys - never really been impressed by the prices - I did get a Bose system from an outlet store , but not really at a super deal price , but that was because my existing bose system the base unit had broken ....
my son decided to go to gunwharf key just before covid, and then was coming on to use - he last in the centre probably less than a hour ........

Apparently, many of the 'Designer' brands sell specially made clothes for the outlets. I watched a documentary on this recently set at Bicester Village and they showed the truth about it. You can see it https://www.channel5.com/show/britain-s ... er-village it is actually very interesting.

We were under no illusions about visiting Freeport, which was a diversion while we were local. The best deals were in the M&S outlet and we got a few bits as I saw some things I wanted.

I went to Sterling Mills outlet near me back in January. It was pretty quiet but that could have been because Christmas had just passed and everyone was skint. I went to the Nike factory store to get some Air Force ones my son wanted for his birthday. Now in case you didn't know Air Force ones are quite popular amongst the youngsters. Both my sons wear them. Surprisingly they didn't have any! Which makes me think they're selling only stock they can't sell elsewhere.

I tried another couple of store and none of them had them and as I say they're one of the biggest sellers.

Yeah I bought them from the Nike shop. Being a Mag (NUFC Fan) he only wanted the white ones with the black Nike tick 🙄 His cost £130

They're not cheap as you say. My older son's birthday is in May (the one that gave me food poisoning). I might get him these to suit his clown behaviour 😂

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
