Passport check

Post by dewaltdisney »

Just a heads-up for anyone near the expiry date on their passport. You need to check the issue date and then add ten years to this for the real expiry date. The date shown for expiry on the existing passport may well have added months transferred over from the previous passport. This caught out my sister and she lost a holiday through it. A lot of countries now require that you have three months left on your passport after your planned date of return. My passport has an expiry date of Oct 2024 but the ten year date is June 2024 so I will renew it in Decmber I think as I do not want to hit the usual renewal backlog that will inevitably occur. In 2014 there was a renewal backlog and we had to go up to the London passport office. The cost for 2 was about £325 that I had to pay for their inefficiency and missmangement. So giving up 6 months on this passport is a bitter taste but it would be only £16.25 :angryfire:

Worth checking.

Some are 6 months I believe.

Did that back in the mid 90's with my partner. We got to Petty France around 8am and got seen about 2pm 🙄 Queue was right round the block.

I had to pay for an in-person, fast track appointment for me and Mrs D, it was over £150 each, see current charge https://www.gov.uk/get-a-passport-urgen ... ck-service
