Hoodies

I cannot understand what the object of wearing the hood up on a hoodie is when the weather does not require it. It seems that most of the people who do it are of the lower orders and intelligence and I wondered if less brain power does not keep their heads warm. Or is it that these chumps are more likely to commit a crime and therefore are making an effort to mask their identity from cameras? A week or so ago, I saw a t*at drive past wearing a hood in his car, he looked like a demented gnome. This made me more aware and since then I have been looking more closely at those wearing the hood up. Thus far I have not seen anyone who looked remotely intelligent wearing a hood up which supported my theory of ID protection. I use the hoods on my winter garments in wet, windy, or cold weather, never at a time that does not require it.

Thoughts?

DWD, you need to read the book "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrick Blackman, at least the first three-quarters*. He's a cross between you and Victor Meldrew!

* He does get better towards the end though.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

To be honest I sometimes wear my hood up and have my earphones in. I sometimes can't be arsed speaking to anyone so hope people don't see me or when I have my headphones in I sometimes pretend I'm talking to someone when I'm not 😂

i wear hoodies a canny bit like.

almost always hood down.

besides having curly ginger past shoulder length hair the hood does not go up very well anyway haha.

the other day i was driving my van around sunny south shields and there was a little scum bag riding one of those daft electric bikes that the drug runners all seem to be using now.... he had one of those balaclava things on with a circle for the mouth and 2 for the eyes. during a sunny day broad daylight.

its a good subject really
we all form our own conclusions on what we see right or wrong and that includes me hence my comments
the way we get the fuller picture is with research and that in this case would include talking to several hoodie wearing individuals now some off course will fit into your thoughts and my thoughts but i am sure to most its a practical cheap garment made to look as fashionable as they can make it after all there parents will buy most off these garments

My hoodie cost £8 at Primark I have never put the hood up. I really do not see the point, if it is warm enough for a hoodie you do not need it up.

Do not own one & no intention of doing so. I did notice, however, last time I was looking for "inexpensive" sweatshirts, that I do wear, how many hoodies there were available. I do not see the point either - so have to wonder how a person so "anti" comes to in fact own one?

Thanks for your efforts at keeping the forum going, you really must read that book. It's about an older man who cannot understand why one of them O-pad computers does not have a keypad, is annoyed his neighbour cannot reverse a trailer properly, and then asks to borrow an "eileen" key to assemble flat-pack furniture without specifying the size.

Apparently now a film with Tom Hanks - my daughter says it's based on me.

You missed my point I never said I was anti-Hoodie I was asking why anyone would wear the hood up in good weather or indoors. As for wearing a Hoodie myself the cotton build is a spring or autumn garment when a fleece might be too hot. I move through my outdoor apparel to match the seasons as being on blood thinners means invariably I feel the cold. I appreciate that many have a humour by pass and take what I write too literally rather than spotting the sense of fun in my remarks and drawing the intention. Argyll made a valid point in his response which was quite logical as did Fin and SE.

As I said earlier, these threads are meant to stimulate a bit of wit and banter to help the forum get through the quiet spots. This one failed.

the young kid who is a barman at the cranny wears one with the hood up often. he is a bit of a funny kid at times. means well but doesnt do well in some situations. hes autistic like.

what i said earlier... dunno what other towns are like. but there are loads of wronguns kicking about who hide their identities either like the lad i saw with the balaclava on or others who wear masks similar to the covid era masks. and they arent wearing them to protect themselves or others...

those electric bike things also.... other day outside the cranny a kid was knocked off one and had to be freed from what was left of it apparently.

I commend your theory :-) I have seen may forums slowly go down hill, then close. The last one I know of that did it gave no warning, yes it was quiet, very quiet, but no chance to say goodbye/swap details (if you really wanted to)

I would say it is social media as in Facebook and maybe TikTok ?
I would say that forums not only need new content, but new people to read and reply to said content, sadly it is a case of post and go, another forum I am on, people join and post only.........................they don't, no posts at all, it has a high member count, but most stay for3-4 years then go (Oh, just like here, a lot of "regulars" have stopped posting) I guess there is no solution, people get busy in life, have kids etc so move on
