Impact driver and SDS drill [advice please]

Hi all,

I'm currently on the look out for a decent impact driver and SDS drill.

I already have a 18v DeWalt drill which I love, so maybe something to add to that family (but doesn't have to).

I can't seem to find any deals which include both an SDS and an impact driver.

Any advice?

i would look at the dewalt 18v 3 speed impact driver - as a DIYer i have found it really helpful to adjust the speed/impact

https://ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Dewalt-Dc ... -Bare-Unit

and i also have the cabled dewalt SDS drill which also included a standard chuck

https://ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Dewalt-D2 ... ange-Chuck

I have used the SDS drill a few times with the standard chuck - for drilling wood , used for mixing

I had looked at the cordless range - but decided for my use 240v would be OK for DIYer
I have used for attaching posts to a small wall - with coach bolts, a gate post onto side of house , breaking up an old porch to retile , channelling a wall for plumbing

Then why change? You can also buy "bare" since you already have battery and charger

Just because it's a deal YOU want, doesn't mean to say there should be such a "deal"
I too am a dewalt fan, I wait for quite some time before I buy them, watching various sites for price changes.

Brilliant thank you @etaf - looks exactly like what I'm looking for.

I'd be happy with a wired SDS, likely to just use it around the house so will always have access to a plug.

Never heard of FFX - reputable?

Well, I'm not looking to change. But if there was a great deal on say a Makita I wouldn't ignore it in favour of a DeWalt.

I keep an eye out. There was a great deal on DeWalt impact drivers at Screwfix a few months back...but I just didn't have the finds at the time.

yes,
they are a kent based business , I have purchased lots of tools from there over the years
they used to have a big tool show , at the detling show ground Nr maidstome kent - end of Feb/mar - I went 3 years in a row before covid , last one was in 2020 - lots of comapnies on show - all the major brands dewalt , festool, trend and many many others in a huge warehouse , as i say i purchased lots of items on deals
they are also on ebay , although the price is higher and offer a discount, which can work out cheaper than on the FFX site

where i have issues , next day delivery which did not arrive, they have been very good in sorting out and offering a small compensation

sales team are excellent and very helpful, and have met a few over the years at the shows

D&M tools another company I have purchased from, and they also have a show at Kempton racecourse - October time

Ah thanks so much. I'm pretty much limited to Toolstation and Screwfix for my purchasing so far.

FFX seem to have a generally lower price point and some good deals, so I'll keep an eye on them. Will also check out D&M. Cheers :)

yep, and they have next day delivery -order before 10pm and get next day - but even though I ordered in the morning on 2 occasions , they have NOT delivered next day ......

I always compare FFX , D&M , amazon before even screwfix or toolstation
be aware , that screwfix and toolstation some of the dewalt tools are not available anywhere else and a special deal for those companies - maybe just the way its bundled - but i believe even models may be specific to them .... My drill with 3Ah batteries and t-stack was a special bundle for screwfix (£149.99) - which i purchased , on a whim on the spot as they had the offer on in the store front .... - BUT found out later it was the cheapest drill dewalt do ...... and i could pick that up bare for around £45 .....

Ah well that is very frustrating. I hope I haven't made the same mistake...just got a DeWalt impact driver from Toolstation. Big plus is it came with two batteries (making 3 DeWalt batteries now)...meaning I have a lot more options for bare units.

was it this deal

i use 2ah batts on my combi and impact driver - i think they cam with the multitool, but nice and light and easy to get into awkward places - i think you will like the 3 speed , i used over the weekend, and had just on setting one for some delicate work - where 2 or 3 would have cause issues
