hello sorry for the long post but need help please
been plastering for over 40 years +
built a brick wall 3 years ago only 3 ft high using common bricks 2 coats top coats been floated and spooged smooth used FEB MIX but had a shock went back 3 months ago wall cracking like I have never seen in my life !!!!
you can pull the render of with your fingers I'm shocked as I have never seen this before
the now exposed brickwork as a sandy residue all over hence why the render has blown
I have to go back and render all over again
my clients had sand for block paving I don't know if we used that as there was a few bags of sand there ?
I don't think it's SALT as its not white in colour
so I would asume I need some kind of stabiliser
but would this work as I don't want to keep going back imagine if this was a house I would be devastating any help
thanks paul

If a video is too big to post, why not host it on Youtube, live video or vimeo or............. and post a link to it, here.

going back about 15 or so years i think it was we worked on a house with a big gable end wall overlooking the mouth of the tyne. canny exposed like.

rendered by plasterers with the standard render sand cememnt etc

it all came off. the lads who did it were all well experienced and all that. turned out to be a problem with the actual cement used

Near the coast- beach sand or unwashed sand will do that, not saying but some will even flog sand from road sand / salt bins
