I have had some MDF skirting boards installed and I painted them; undercoat and top coat.
These skirting boards need replacing due to a fitting issue and when the joiner came round to take a look, he noticed the rough quality of what I had painted.
He said that before I had painted the skirting boards, I should've either very lightly sanded the skirting boards down but he also mentioned some kind of primer.
He said that another option was to buy a kind of 'gluey' type of liquid primer and that instead of sanding the skirting boards down, I could paint this solution onto the boards and then when dry, I could just paint the normal undercoat and top coat on and that it would be a smooth finish.
I wondered if anyone could please advise me regarding this.
Many thanks
