TV spec - difficult to find

Post by kellys_eye »

Does anyone have a TV that does PIP (picture-in-picture) and, if so, tell me what picture(s) can be inset? and whether it does it via the external HDMI input?

Reason is I have a 65" TV that we also display our CCTV on but we'd like to keep the CCTV 'in the corner' (shop watching) most of the time. Without the PIP function (that our set currently doesn't have) we have to change the signal source input each time - a right PITA.

Additionally - and this is the hard part - I can't seem to find another 65" TV that not only does PIP but also has FreeSAT built-in. Anyone lucky enough to have a set that does all-of-the-above or can recommend a model?

TIA

Can you not have a separate monitor screen like a tablet size? Plenty on Amazon/eBay for around £50 and it would sit close to wherever you are in the house.

Yeah, we already run a separate smaller (17") HD TV screen but when you put a full screen of cameras up (8 can be shown at once) then the individual images are tiny unless you sit right on top of the monitor. We flash the full 8 screens onto the 65" set and no issues but a PIP facility would actually be around the same size as the 17" image (I guess?) yet still allow us to watch TV.

Sounds a bit OTT I know but the cameras monitor our garden and pond (we're under attack by a rogue heron!) and a pine marten is terrorising the hens! We even caught an otter trotting past the place the other day. Our fish are quite 'precious' to us (had them over 8 years now and a lot are 18" long and not easy to replace.

Anyway, the CCTV output is more entertaining than the TV - at any time......
