Removing very long nail
I'd like to try and remove a very long nail, before I install some upvc boards in my porch. Any tips on how to get a claw hammer/crow bar to grip on to it? Should I just a saw/multi tool to partially cut into it to give a notch for the hammer/crowbar to grip onto? Or just give up and cut through it, and leave a remnant in the wood?
Sorry for terrible photo, will try and add a better pic later!

Put a block(s) of timber under your hammer (To raise its height) and continue to pull via its claw

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

someone has gone to a massive amount off effort to drive that home so make sure there's sufficient support elsewhere

Another way to remove it using a claw is to put the nail in the claw and with one hand on the striking face use the other to push on the handle sideways , refitting the claw onto the nail and pushing in the opposite direction and so on. The nail comes out bent to buggery but it does come out.

If you mean make sure it is not hioding anything up ...
Some 4 inch mock tudor beams had been attached to the porch beams using these nails. Most came off with the beams, but this one pulled through the beam and stayed in situ. So it is not holding anything up or in place.

What ever you do, don't bite it, my (late) mum was always telling me "son, don't bite your nails"

I have now got them out ... managed to bend them over and manhandle them out.
