Minimum screed depth and screed advice

Post by Andrew »

Hi,

God it's been a long time since I last posted here! Time flies....

So I have a very small strip of a concrete floor which is probably about 10mm max lower than the rest as I have moved a wall slightly and the two floors aren't the same height.

It's only about 2m x 25cm long.

I was planning on just painting some sbr on the floor, mixing up some sharp sand and cement and laying that in there as best as I can, although sharp sand isn't the best idea tbh.

Can anyone please advise? It doesn't need to be perfect.

Cheers.

I would consider self-levelling compound for that depth. You can go to 30mm'ish but over that it is best to screed.

Cheers.

I've never used self leveling compound. Does it matter if the floor isn't 100% level in the first place, ie you can work it to your requirements?

Also, does it need bonding or just go straight onto existing?
