Hi all,
I just picked up a Makita XGT 40v tracksaw (SP001G) and I'm having some issues with the bevel indicator marker.
When the track saw is supposedly tilted to 45 degrees, the orange marker indicates that its 1 degree short of 45 degrees, maxing out at 44 degrees. When flat, the indicator sits flat at 0 degrees.
Also, the track saw allows up to 48 degrees bevel but the market sits between 47 and 48 degrees.
Has anyone seen this before? One of the condition of the return is that the item is supposed to be unused hence not making cuts.

Makita XGT 40V Tracksaw not bevelling to 45 degrees

Have you measured the actual angle between track and blade? I never put too much reliance on the angle gauges as my saws are all out where they have been banged over the years. If you have not got an angle then fold a piece of square paper corner to corner.

Makita XGT 40V Tracksaw not bevelling to 45 degrees
the saw looks fully adjustable
the normal is ----=try the saw as marked
check the work with an accurate device like combination square or rotate the offcut to give a corner
adjust actual cut till accurate then move indicator then recheck with a cut
aaannnddd up to 48 degrees although in this context it should perhaps mean 48+/-0.5 degrees' the general meanging off up to means the maximum we expect is 48 but could be less like up to 48% cheaper tickets
