Urgent advice needed

Post by hs01 »

Hi there hope someone can help me out/re-assure me. I have bought decking and joists from a company called rembrand timber, when the joists arrived they looked a bit "white" for outdoor use, I have pasted a link to the product page here http://www.rembrandtimber.com/product_r ... andard.php

the joists are described as "Decking joist 45 x 145 whitewood regularised & treated C16" :help: :help: :help:

Can't get the weblink to work, but if it says they're treated they should be fine.

Just make sure you treat all cut ends.

I copied and pasted the links but it does not work.

When I last did decking many of the joists etc did not look like they had been treated, but they had. Take a look here-

http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/diy/d ... basics.htm

and you will see that most of the joists are whiteish in colour.

Here you can see a joist that has been cut and I have treated it with green preservative and so the wood looks like it has not been treated, but of course it has.

I got the link to work

It does say they are treated but it does not say what it has been treated with. May be worth asking the company what they have used.
Some wood treatment is clear and does not colour the timber.

Strange I tried to make the link clickable but when I add the [url] tag my message dissapears in preview and upon submit

Link worked for me:

Decking

or http://www.rembrandtimber.com/product_r ... andard.php if you prefer

No idea about actual question, mind
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
