Bringing out window reveals

We have had new windows fitted and were left with large gaps between the frames and reveals. We don’t want to use plastic trims or sealant. We also don’t want to simply plaster over the gaps because then it looks like there is a small section of wall next to the window before it does a right turn into the reveal.

What is the best way to fix this without replastering the entire wall? Is there any way of attaching a new corner bead at the front of the reveal (by recessing it into the existing plaster), fitting a piece of plasterboard into the reveal and then finishing it with plaster? Or are there other options?

Thank you.

Well, the usual way is PVC trim to seal it and make it neat. Any filler you put in is likely to crack over time unless it is a silicone that will expand and contract. However, that can discolour and does not take paint well. At the end of the day do you feel you might be overfocussing on this? You have plastic side trims already, I would use PVC quadrant and forget about it.

What are they like on the outside?

Thank you.

The reason I don’t want plastic trim is because they harbour condensation underneath and then go mouldy. They did this on all our old windows. I hate them.

I think I will stick a piece of 9 mm plasterboard into the reveal, cover the raw edge corner with corner tape (the one that has metal in it) and then feather it in. Will share the results here.

On the outside the windows are fine. Fully silicone rendered. Not all our windows are like this.

Well, I have never had this with PVC trim so your experience will guide your method. I hope you get it sorted.

Pvc trim would now be the reason for mould. It would just show it if conditions are there for the mould to grow. I doubt moisture gets trapped behind a bead
