Valspar problems, advice on new paint

Hi,
We wanted to repaint our bathroom a different colour, went into B&Q to choose a colour and after asking the staff on the paint counter what they would recommend they told us the best bathroom paint they have is Valspar Premium Bathroom and Kitchen, was told it had excellent moisure resistance and was scrubbable, so we had it colour mixed and bought it.
Cleaned the bathroom walls, let them dry and did a single undercoat with Crown Trade Clean Extreme Scrubbable Matt in white, let that dry for a week and then did two coats of the Valspar, it went on really well and we were pleased with the colour, left it 10 days. Used the shower and the next day we noticed long water marks all around the walls, the marks streaked down and turned the paint shiny. Tried to scrub it a bit and noticed the paint was slightly coming off on the cloth and the marks were not shifting. Looked on the Internet and found other people leaving poor reviews with the exact same problems, wish I had read them first.
Anyway after a long battle with the manager and Valspar rep at B&Q who denied ever having problems with the paint despite me showing them the reviews and a video of my bathroom they finally agreed to refund me. They tried to blame me for not leaving it long enough despite the can saying leave it for a week (I left it for 10 days) and also trying to convince me it had a reaction with the paint underneath despite the can saying it is fine to paint over matt paint.
Question now is what paint do I use instead, I think we previously had Dulux Diamond Matt which never had a problem with water stains, is this still good? Can I now go straight over the Valspar or is it best to undercoat it with something now it has the water stains on it? It would be a nightmare if the water stains showed through when I paint over.
Thanks.
