Do I need to add a 4 core cable going from light to sensor?

If you did install a 4 core, where would the other two go?

In short, you have a normal switch, 2 wires. One is permanent live, the other goes live when you operate the switch (Pull the string) this one is called switched live.

Your movement sensor requires Live, Neutral and switched live. You would have to do some re wiring, or put the switch back.

Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

That sensor needs a neutral, which you don’t have at your switch

I am sure you could pull in another cable, however I would look at putting the PIR next to light which has got line and neutral wires, and leave old switch where it is.

Not sure why you want a PIR, there are some advertised to work without a neutral.
