Filling in this small hole

Any ideas on how to fill in this small hole. See the attachment. It'sabout 1 to 2 cm across

It's where the former owner tried to fit the light switch and obviously had to move the switch. The screws only just hit the joists above.

I can't get to it from above

The best solution would be to let in a plasterboard patch by removing the fitting and refixing it after you have made good.

You could fit a ceiling rose halo (google it).
