Get a new cheap one Fin, they are disposable these days. £300 should get a fair one it is not worth trying to repair them.

This one? or This one

As for is it worth it, depends what wrong and how old it is.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

It depends how old and how much to fix? Bin if over 10 years and buy a cheap one may be Currys own brand or if over £150 to fix, that's what I would do.

its a samsung. its about 5 or 6 years old at a guess.

been a decent machine to be fair like.

the cheap ones are gash. not opposed to spending a little more. the likes of the indesit machines are rubbish. the lamona machines howdens sell that i install regularly also one is in my opinion a better machine than the other.

We have a Haier washing machine that is Chinese made and for the 4 years we have had it the machine has been reliable and very quiet due to some kind of spin that uses magnets. I wouldn’t normally recommend anything Chinese made for many reasons but I have to speak as I find and it is a good machine.
If you want British a made machine then I would recommend Ebac , they are highly reliable but a bit dearer.

I think the simpler the machine and cheaper is best. Samsung is a good make but all washing machines have a life and you gamble on how long that life is. I have had a couple of cheap end Hoovers that have done good service, a Candy I had did not and failed quite quickly. Mrs D only uses a couple of programs as most of our stuff is cool washes. I have found that paying sub £300 and replacing them as soon as they go wrong works for us. Invariably the machines last 4 years plus and this equates to £6 a month I pay into my sinking fund for white goods replacement. So £600 for a good machine that last five years or two cheap ones that last 8 years between them, I go for the latter.

That is my take.

Had hotpoint machines for years, but they just don't last, yes 10 year parts warranty but the callout fee and wait times are a joke the last machine had a new pump and controls board with in 4 years then the door lock failed

Now gone over to Bosch 60% quieter, miles more efficient - i couldn't quite spring for a Miele, always go for the heaver load option 9kg give you better bearings and a bigger drum

Spin speed is critical, you want as much water spun out as possible, the 1200 spin speeds do not cut it. The load factor in ours is 8kg which suits the stuff we put in.

With this Bosch it uses less water so doesn't need to spin out, it does do 1400
