A significant bit of cycling history was made in the Tour de France today. Mark Cavendish got his 35th TDF stage win today which overtakes Eddy Merckx's 34 stage win record. He is unlikely to be challenged for this title as there is no one close. This is a real achievement in cycling as to win one TDF stage is an accolade let alone 35. At least it is one sport where we have a winner. I am probably the only one who follows the cycling on here but I was pleased for him considering the adversity he has faced and the fact that he is 39 and can still win a stage in this tough race.
