Looking for some advice on best way to board my loft, I have previously used loft legs but found them to be a bit filmsy. Instead looking at using 4 x 2 doubled up to create 8 x 2 so at correct depth for insulation running perpendicular to roof joists at around 400mm centre’s total square area is around 5m2. Will this be ok or will it be adding to much weight my roof?

My house is around 25 years old.

Would it not depend on the integrity of your current roof joists?

Lofts are used for storage, but I believe that is not what they were designed for, yes ok the Christmas tree and decorations, but not for much else.
